About this deal

Xiaomi’s new 86-inch Mini LED smart TV brings 4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi is boasting a new in-house developed image quality engine that should optimize all sorts of content played on the TV. Sync with the Mi Band app in real-time via Bluetooth ® Low Energy (BLE) to view your fitness and sleep It’s not just the case that’s been improved, either. The display, despite being the same 1.64-inch size and 192 x 490-pixel resolution as its predecessor, can now reach 600 nits of brightness. The Smart Band 8’s battery capacity doesn’t take the same leap forward as we saw with its predecessor, but it is still bigger - and you can expect the newer device to be fairly long-lasting.

As shown in our example above, all the data seems within a healthy range of the wrist-based Running Dynamics info available from our Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2), which, considering the incredible price difference, is impressive stuff. There is, at least, breathing rate data available - again, you’ll have to find this and turn it on in the companion app’s settings - though this is still in beta. And when we did turn this on, nothing appeared in our sleep reports. In terms of UI and features, Xiaomi Smart Band 8 now supports up to more than 150 sports modes, the most interesting one being aerobic boxing. Thanks to the built-in acceleration sensor, we now have what is probably the world’s lightest sensory gaming device. Put on your Xiaomi Smart Band 8, follow the lessons in Mi fitness APP and you can swing your fists and burn your calories anywhere, anytime. Currently, we have no information on whether the Mi Band 8 will release globally (or in India). But stay tuned to Beebom as we will update you if we get a global or India release date. The Smart Band 8 is also capable of high and low heart rate notifications, though this is another feature that you’ll have to turn on manually. Much like its predecessors, the Mi Band 8 from Xiaomi is priced at 249 Yuan (~Rs 2,975) for the standard variant. The NFC variant of the Mi Band 8 is priced at 299 Yuan (~Rs 3,575) in China. But, as part of the early bird sale, you will get a 10 Yuan and 20 Yuan discount on these variants, respectively.

While the Xiaomi Band 8 is designed to be water-resistant, it’s essential to remember that water resistance does have limitations. The device is not intended for use in high-pressure environments such as scuba diving or in saltwater, as salt can be corrosive. Additionally, exposure to hot water or steam may compromise the device’s water resistance over time. To maintain the longevity of your smart band’s water resistance, it’s advisable to rinse it with fresh water and dry it thoroughly after exposure to seawater or chlorinated pool water. Display Quality Notifications may be a little cramped on that 1.64-inch display, and you still don’t have the ability to really do anything with them other than view, but they are at least customizable through the Mi Fitness app and come through reliably. This splits your night’s sleep into either light or deep sleep, though this expands to include REM sleep and heart rate monitoring (leading to more accurate sleep stage information) after you enable the setting. Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Active has an impressive water resistance rating of 5ATM. But what does this rating mean, and why is it significant? The “ATM” rating is a measure of a device’s water resistance, with each ATM representing 10 meters of water pressure. In the case of the Smart Band 8, the 5ATM rating implies that it can withstand water pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters. To put this in perspective, this level of water resistance is more than sufficient for most water-related activities that individuals engage in. Beyond swimming, the Band water resistance extends to everyday scenarios where your smart band might encounter splashes, rain, or accidental spills. And if the battery is low and you're seeking a bit of juice to get you through the day, charging speeds are also rapid. Our test unit managed to shoot from 10% to fully charged in around 45 minutes. Should you buy it?
